Apple eBook reader
The BBC ran a story on it’s main evening news programmes last night about the launch of the Kindle in the UK (although, you still have to actually order from Amazon.com, not .co.).
They interviewed a bookshop owner and got his opinion of the device. It was pretty much what you would expect - he’s sure that electronic books are the future, but the Kindle isn’t it. What was interesting though was that he expected Apple to come out with something better soon.
Apple have gone from being relatively unknown outside of the design community or the more enlightened tech enthusiasts, to being the de-facto company that people are expecting will march into any new tech market and take it over. Quite a turnaround, and that’s mostly thanks to the influence of the iPod. Halo effect indeed.
